Lesley Clarke has been active in local politics for many years, becoming the Leader of Wycombe District Council in 2003 and re-elected to the post in May 2007. Having stood for the County Council elections in 2001, she is now in her second term as a County Councillor for Abbey Division of High Wycombe. She is also a Charter Trustee for the town of High Wycombe and served as its Mayor in 1994.
Lesley’s portfolio is far reaching and includes enhanced two-tier working, financial resources and strategic sites. This has included taking a key role in negotiations over the redevelopment of the town centre and she is directly involved in the project to build the district’s new sports centre.
Lesley is also politically active nationally and she became Chairman of the Women's Local Government Society in March 2007, in which capacity she recently appearing as a guest on Radio 4’s Women’s Hour.

Valerie Letheren served on Wycombe District Council representing West Wycombe and Sands from 1985 to 1999, during which time she served as Mayor of High Wycombe and Chairman of the District Council, as well as chairing the Planning Committee for several years.
She was elected to Buckinghamshire County Council in 2001, representing Amersham Hill and Terriers division and immediately became involved in Strategic Planning and Transport. In 2004 Valerie was chosen to serve on the County Council Cabinet with the Childrens’ Social Care portfolio, moving later to her current position with the Transportation portfolio.
Her work involves the promotion of all aspects of transport, including road safety, encouragement of alternative means of travel to the car and developing policy to effectively manage congestion with increased car ownership. She sits on the Milton Keynes Transport Board and attends the South East Region Transport Board representing Buckinghamshire. In her role she is regularly interviewed for the local radio and press.
Valerie is an active local member living in her division, supporting her residents with planning and traffic related issues and serving on the local Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG). She is President of the Wycombe Neighbourhood Watch scheme and a governor of The Royal Grammar and Hannah Ball Schools.
