Local Conservatives have chosen Lawrence Wood to be the candidate in the Hazlemere South by-electionon 24th November.
Lawrence has always lived in south Bucks, and is currently employed at Bucks New University as a students’ education and welfare
officer. He is therefore used to dealing with people from all walks of life, supporting them and working with them.
He looks forward to working with the other Conservative councillors in the area, the Parish Council and community groups to
keep Hazlemere a good place to live and raise families.
Cllr Hugh McCarthy
As the Cabinet Member for Planning at Wycombe Council, I know how
important it is to stop areas becoming over developed. I know Lawrence
shares my view that the Green Belt must be protected and he will fight
any proposals to encroach on undeveloped green spaces. I am proud the
Conservatives locally have allocated 289 additional acres to the Green
Belt. Under the Conservatives, Wycombe Council was the only local
authority to have increased the acreage of Green Belt during the last four
and a half years.
“I ask you to vote for Lawrence to protect the Green Belt, and for good local planning.” Cllr David Carroll As your local County Councillor, I am pleased Conservatives have decided
to increase the amount of money spent on repairing roads. There is a
long-term plan to ensure all roads meet a high standard.
As Deputy Leader of Wycombe Council, I am proud good quality facilities
are provided for residents. I am delighted with the proposal to re-develop
Handy Cross Sports Centre, which will complement the existing excellent
shopping and leisure facilities across the District Lawrence agrees the
Council’s priorities are to ensure this is a place where people want to live.
“Vote for Lawrence for good local services delivered through sound financial management.”
Cllr Ron Gaffney
As one of your Hazlemere councillors, I have taken a lead on the
Queensway Tranquil Park, and also prevented the running track being
sited in the village. It is worth remembering the Liberal and Labour
parties, when they controlled Wycombe Council, bought the land at
Queensway for a Park & Ride site. It was the Conservatives who stopped
it being built on, and have preserved it for all local people to enjoy.
Conservatives believe people should always have a say in how their
communities are run and participate actively in local services.
“I have no hesitation in recommending Lawrence and urge you to vote for him.”
